Beefsteak Plant

Iresine herbstii
An evergreen perennial ( annual in non-tropical climates ), reaching a maximum size of 6 x 3 ( typically half ) feet, that is native to South America.
The notch-tipped, oval leaves, up to 4.8 inches in length, are purplish-red with yellowish veining.
Hardy zones 10 to 12 in partial shade ( can be grown zone 5 to 9 as a perennial in any climate with warm to hot humid summers ).

'Aureo-Reticulata'
The bright red stems bear green and golden-yellow leaves that are veined red.

Iresine lindenii
Similar with more pointed leaves that are deep red with brighter red veining.
The stems are also bright red.
